Lakeland Noon Rotary Club Raising Money For New Senior Center

The Lakeland Noon Rotary Club is hosting an event to help rebuild the Lakeland Senior Center in Woodruff.

Rotary spokesperson Sue Morris says their group is hosting an event called "Tropical Nights". The tropical-themed event is set for 6:00 p.m. April 22 at the Waters of Minocqua. Guests can dress in tropical attire, and they have a number raffle items, including gift baskets. Morris says one larger raffle item is going to be available for a larger ticket.

She says the event will not only benefit the Lakeland Senior Center but a student as well...

"....Rotary is very much involved in student exchange. We have a young lady going to Thailand and she's trying to raise money for her trip. So they are allowing her to put her own gift basket together and whatever tickets she has in her basket, we're going to pay her for it. She's been trying a lot of different fundraisers to get her money together to go to Thailand. It's a nice community effort. Rotary is helping the (Senior) Center and the Senior Center is helping one of our students....."

On May 6, 2015 fire destroyed the Lakeland Senior Center. There was a problem with the insurance policy. The Lakeland Retirement Foundation has been at the Hiawatha Mobile Home Estates in Woodruff since that time, and the Foundation has given the go-ahead to rebuild the Center.

Morris says there will be tickets at Northwoods Property Management and other locations around the Lakeland area including the Lakeland Senior Center office.. A link to more information ishere.
