Lakeland School Board Improves Auditorium

Work will start within two weeks on remodeling the auditorium at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua.

The school board this week awarded a $2 million dollar contract to Miron Construction from Neenah. That's the same firm that redid the school's front entrance to make it more secure, along with renovating the bathroom and nurse's station this past year.

Most of the auditorium work will take place during summer, but work must be done by September.

District Administrator Todd Kleinhans says students and the public will find an enhanced experience from the facility built in the 1950's....

"....when the remodel and renovation project is complete, we're going to see a 21st century facility that is going to have state-of-the-art lighting, state of the art sound, and enhanced seating made available for the spectators and for the participants...."

Still on hold is proposed work on outside facilities, such as a new concession and bathroom facility, press box, bleachers and locker rooms. That will will also cost more than $2 million and board members are concerned the district can't afford it this year..
