Starting next month there will be bus service operating between some Northwoods communities.
The Northwoods Transit Commission announced the start of two routes with Minocqua a hub between Rhinelander and Eagle River.
Oneida County Department on Aging Director Dianne Jacobson says this Transit Commission will be contracting with current providers to have routes....
".....one will be traveling in the morning from Rhinelander to the Minocqua-Woodruff area, then spend the day in Minocqua-Woodruff doing shuttles...and then travel back to Rhinelander in mid-afternoon...."
Jacobson says they will be partnering with Headwaters, Inc. on that route.
Jacobson says the second route is from Eagle River to the Minocqua-Woodruff area three times per week, multiple times during the day.
She says contact the Oneida County Department on Aging, or the Vilas County Commission on Aging for more information.
Jacobson says the Commission is also working toward hiring a new transit manager, with finalist interviews in the works.
