LOWVNW Hopes More Incumbents Respond to Vote411

The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods is encouraging candidates to fill out their profiles on the Vote 411.org websiteand hopes the public takes a moment to check it out.

Vote411.org is a type of "one stop shop" provided to the public in a non-partisan fashion says League spokesperson Jane Trotter. She says the number of candidates filling out forms is a bit disappointing... "...it's the candidate's responsibility to populate that site, Vote411.org with information about themselves, why they feel they would be the best candidate and to answer a few questions posed to the candidates in a particular race...." Trotter says that information says much about the candidates... "....you can read what the candidate has chosen to put up, but the fact that the candidate has chosen nothing to put up that is clear and obvious as to how interested is that candidate interested in making himself or herself known to you, the voter...." Candidates for county, state, and federal offices were invited to provide biographical background and answer several questions in their own words. Inclusion in the guide is free and voters can compare the candidates side by side on issues they see as most important and how they would prioritize those issues. She says most of the candidates are incumbents, but that doesn't mean that they should rely solely on their record in office.
