Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch stopped by the Vilas County Business Incubators in Eagle River today.
Kleefisch talked with Christine Gaffron at Stitch It, who makes embroidered logos on items like hats and shirts. Since being in the incubator, Gaffron told Kleefisch her business has grown and it has helped to be in the incubator...
"(Gaffron)....they had us write a business plan...(Kleefisch) ..you hadn't done that before..."(Gaffron)....no, when I went to school they didn't have it. Everyone wanted to make money, that's about it. So I completed that and I'm comfortable with thedecisions I'm making...."
Vilas County Economic Development has three incubator buildings in Eagle River, one in Manitowish Waters and one in Phelps. New businesses lease a portion of the building at less cost than if they were on the retail market. Entrepreneurs also get help with business plans and share some fixed costs.
