LUHS Board Approves $14.6 Million Bonds For Projects

en.wikipedia.org

The Lakeland Union High School Board of Education has approved an initial resolution authorizing $14.66 million in general obligation bonds to finance 20 major infrastructure projects at the high school.

Director of Business Services Greg Kopp explains the reasons for the project:

“A lot of that is driven by the fact that we have some very old infrastructure in here when it comes to our heating and cooling, our electrical wiring. Some of our roofs are at the end of their useful life. The bulk of everything in here is stuff that we are going to have to do over the next three to five years anyway.”

Projects include the $4.4 million to replace two boilers and $934,000 to install solar panels on the roof. Project manager Schneider Electric says the district will save over $4.2 million over the life of the projects, mainly through energy savings and less maintenance.

The district will hold a public hearing June.
