The DNR is hosting a deer management assistance program Saturday at the Conover town hall.

Big Game Section Chief Bob Nack says the meeting is for individuals who are already managing private land for wildlife or those who might be interested...

"...landowners participating in the Deer Management Assistance Program, or DMAP. It's a benefit to them and attend and get some information on managing their property for deer and other wildlife from a variety of professionals giving presentations...."

The program works with public and private landowners to improve habitat on their lands. The DNR provides technical assistance. He says they can recommend how to increase or decrease deer populations on a given property. There is a fee involved and varies depending on the size of property.

He says there will be an indoor presentation followed by a tour of properties enrolled in the DMAP program. The meeting is Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Conover town hall.

More information is available by going to the DNR websiteand putting 'DMAP' in the search engine box
