A 78 year old man reported missing over the weekend near Presque Isle has been found safe.
The Vilas County Sheriff's Department reports two men were hiking and taking photographs in the Katherine Wolter Wilderness Area in Presque Isle Sunday afternoon. Donald Gaines of Blue Mounds, Wisconsin had become separated from his hiking partner. The Sheriff's Department was called mid-afternoon Sunday.
Vilas County Emergency Management and Sheriff’s Office personnel began the search. Newbold Search and Rescue Headwaters Search and Rescue, Wisconsin DNR and rangers also assisted with the search.
Gaines was found shortly before two Monday morning and was reported to be in good condition.
