Marshfield Clinic Request Denied By Committee

marshfieldclinic.org

Oneida County officials have turned down a request for an expansion of Marshfield Clinic's facilities in Minocqua.

The county's Planning and Development Committee voted 3-2 against issuing a conditional use permit for the expansion. The medical group wants to build a new 17,000 square foot building that would serve as a recovery center and skilled nursing facility. The new facility would allow Marshfield Clinic to perform surgeries on their own property, rather than using the surgery center at Howard Young Medical Center which is operated by Ministry Health Care.

Marshfield officials say the project would lower healthcare costs for the area, but opponents say it would endanger the other public health programs at Howard Young and put public safety at risk.
The Clinic can appeal the decision to the Oneida County Board of Adjustment.
