Meeting Called In Minocqua Wednesday About Sex Offender

A meeting has been set for Wednesday evening in Minocqua so the public can find out more information about allegations against a registered sex offender.

31 year old Albert Chagnon was scheduled to be released from state prison in Oshkosh when officers found a book that allegedly contained photos of about 250 young girls collected from various publications. He was convicted on child pornography charges and has been in and out of prison, most recently for violating sex offender rules.

Lieutenant Terri Hook from the Oneida County Sheriff's Department says they are calling the meeting in Minocqua Wednesday for parents and the community...

"....I will have the book available for parents who might be concerned their child is in the book and we will attempt to try to identify some of those children if anybody is concerned their child is in the book. I will also give them information about Mr. Chagnon and the upcoming case against him in reference to this book...."
Representatives from Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault will also be at the meeting.

Sex offenders are not allowed to keep pictures of minors without written consent from those responsible. Chagnon is jailed at the Winnebago County Jail in Oshkosh and could be facing additional charges.  He had resided in Rhinelander, but among the publications Chagnon allegedly took pictures from was the Lakeland Times newspaper in Minocqua.

The meeting is at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday(10/29/2014) at the Minocqua Library in the Community Building on Menominee Street
