Meeting Next Week On OC Fair Sustainability

Oneida County Fair

The second public meeting is set for next week to discuss what the Oneida County Fair should be.

The August event brings about 18,000 people to Pioneer Park in Rhinelander. Oneida County UW-Extension leader Lynn Feldman says at the last meeting, four elements came out of discussion, including infrastructure, increasing sponsorships, getting total community involvement, and looking at a new location.

She says now that the fair is over for another year, it's time for more discussion...

"....this is focusing on two of those vision elements Monday night, building infrastructure to the fair and then trying to find a way to increase the geographical areas that are involved in the county fair..."

Feldman says the fair did reach out to more areas within Oneida county this year, but the effort will be to make the event an event for all parts of the county.

The meeting is open to all Oneida county residents, organizations and businesses. It's scheduled for 6 p.m., Monday, October 5 in the lower level conference room at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport. More information is available at theUW-Extension offices.
