Meeting on Wisconsin's Iron Mining Law Called

en.wikipedia.org

The Oneida County Clean Waters Action group is hosting a meeting to discuss environmental changes in Wisconsin's Act 1 Iron Mining Law.

Spokesperson Karl Fate says the changes in the iron mining law enacted by the legislature resulted in confusion....

?

"....we had requests from people to have a briefing on the iron mining law. There were so many changes made with that bill that it's rather mind-boggling to try to sort through it to figure out what exactly happened..."

Fate says Dave Blouin, is the Wisconsin Sierra Club-John Muir mining committee chair. Professor Al Gedicks from UW-LaCrosse is Executive Secretary of the Wisconsin Resources Protection Council....

?

"....collectively they have over a half-century of experience on the issue and they're also up to date on the current issue with the Penokee Hills mine and with the law itself...."

The meeting is open to the public and will include questions from the audience. It's set for Wednesday, October 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the UW-Extension conference room at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport.
