Ministry Health Care Offers Veterans Choice Program

U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs

Ministry Health Care will be participating in the first wave of a nationwide effort by Ascension Health to provide care through the Veterans Choice Program, that officials say gives veterans the choice to receive care at all Ministry Health Care locations throughout the Northwoods.

Kendra Glebke is the Veterans Choice navigator for Ministry Health Care. She says qualified veterans can get care closer to home through the Veterans Choice program...

"....qualified veterans who face wait times in excess of 30 days or have to travel farther than 40 miles can receive care at Ministry Health Care hospitals and clinics. We have 13 of them in northern Wisconsin...."

Glebke says the initial announcement about Veterans Choice was underpublicized, so the announcement should be a positive for Northwoods veterans...

"...they're able to call the number on the back of the card and go through the request process to get authorization to come to the local clinics...."

Veterans can determine eligibility for the Veterans Choice Program at http://www.va.gov/opa/choiceact/ or by calling the number on their Choice Card, 866.606.8198. They can also contact the Ascension National Veterans Call Center at 844.623.3003, for more information about Ascension and the care provided or for assistance scheduling an appointment with a local Ascension provider who is participating in the Veterans Choice Program.
