A businessman from Minocqua is ending his candidacy for Congress.
Democrat Kirk Bangstad spent three months trying to challenge third-term Republican Sean Duffy of Wausau in next fall's election. Now, Bangstad admits he won't be able to raise enough money. He says corporate money is too influential in politics, and he vows to do what he can to change that. Bangstad co-owns a fitness studio with his wife, and he's also a technology consultant.
This would have been his first bid for public office.
