U.S. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack has named August 4-10 as National Farmers Market Week.

In Minocqua, promoters are hoping the public stops by to see their "growing" event.

During August, the Minocqua Farmers Market will also have special activities along with what you expect at a Farmer's Market says Mincoqua Chamber of Commerce Director Kim Baltus...

?

"....this is our second year. We average about 17 to 20 vendors each Friday. There's a wide variety of things there. Everything from your typical vegetables and fruit to wooden bird boxes...outdoor benches...a variety of flowers, pickles..."

Baltus says over the 4th of July weekend they had more than 1200 people attend.

By the end of 2012, there were more than 7,800 farmer's markets in the U.S—a 10 percent increase in just one year.

The market is held in Minocqua each Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Minocqua Park Complex on Highway 70 west.
