More Veterans Are Off To Washington, D.C.

Never Forgotten Honor Flight

86 veterans have departed on the next Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

The flight took off this morning from Central Wisconsin Airport to take veterans from World War II and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts to see the memorials to those wars and other related sights.

Flight Co-Founder Jim Campbell says this is the 27th Never Forgotten Honor Flight to leave central Wisconsin....

".....2,388 veterans so far. This flight...has representatives from each of the major conflicts. As it stands right now, 8 World War II, 31 Korea, and 45 Vietnam veterans will be on this flight...."

Campbell says one of the best parts of the whole day is arriving back at the airport and seeing the lobby full of people welcoming the veterans home....

"....that airport is solid people. If you want to get a spot in the front row you better get there two hours early. It's full. When you think about it, these veterans never got a welcome home. This is their welcome home...."

The flight is expected back about 10:00 p.m. Many of the veterans are from northern Wisconsin.

Campbell says the operate on donations from private individuals, now totaling more than 5,300 persons. More information is available at the website neverforgottenhonorflight.org
