New Chief Deputy Selected for Oneida County

The Oneida County Sheriff’s office has a new chief deputy.  Sheriff Grady Hartman announced today that he has selected Lieutenant Daniel Hess to fill the position.  It has been vacant since March when former Chief Deputy John Sweeney retired.  The Chief Deputy is second in command at the Sheriff’s office, and is in charge when the sheriff is absent.

Oneida County native Dan Hess has worked with the Oneida County Sheriff’s office since 1993 when he served as Patrol Deputy.  He has also served as Task Force Investigator, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant of Communications, and Lieutenant of Investigations.

Sheriff Hartman says Hess was chosen because of his valuable leadership, as well as knowledge and work history with the Sheriff’s office.
