New Positions Authorized By Vilas County Board

The Vilas County Board of Supervisors breezed through nine resolution March 28 that added one full time employee in the social services department, re-authorized a full time employee in the district attorney's office, approved land sales obtained through tax delinquency,and heard a presentation on the county health insurance program for employees.

Voluntary downsizing in 2012 reduced social services economic support specialists from five to three but the work load has increased even with Vilas County being part of an 11 county group. The board approved adding one position. Another position approved was re-authorizing the full time administrative assistant in the district attorney's office. A three year agreement with the Lac du Flambeau  Tribe expired and required the county board to agree to keep the position

. And sixteen land parcels obtained through tax delinquency were approve for sale. These are mostly small parcels but include a 5.4 acre Kildare Lake lot in the Town of Phelps.

Finally, a presentation on the self-funded county health insurance plan for 452 employees was presented by human services director Deb Bohn who said the current plan costs $2.6 million. Single employees pay 5% of salary under the plan with family plans costing employees 10%.
