A training for new volunteers is set for Thursday in Rhinelander for a program that takes seniors, youth, the disabled  and veterans out on fishing excursions.

The Rhinelander chapter of  "Lets Go Fishing" needs people to learn to be captains and mates says spokesperson Neal Baudhuin. He says they will begin with a morning training session at the Oneida County Senior Center then move to the water....

"...we will go down to Boom Lake and get some experience on the pontoon boat, with loading and starting, bringing the boat into the dock area, tying up, things like that..."

He says they want to make sure all the captains and mates have the same training.

The training is July 23 at 9:00 a.m. at the Senior Center before the session moves to Boom Lake. Baudhuin says if anyone has a hew hours to spare, volunteering can be rewarding. Rhinelander was the first city in Wisconsin to have a Lets Go Fishing chapter after it was founded in Minnesota.
