Nicolet College Brings Services To Your Community

Terry Rutlin Nicolet College

Nicolet College is coming to you very soon via a new  trailer.

The 26-foot  trailer features two computer workstations, kiosks for video presentations, seating for students, and an outdoor awning area. It’s also wired to access the college’s computer systems for registering for classes, email, and other college computer services.

Vice-President Kenneth Urban says the Nicolet service area is wide and the trailer is an effective outreach...

"....Nicolet(College) wanted a way to reach out to the communities in our district. The district is roughly the size of Conneticut. We needed a way to get out there and meet with students, prospective students and community members at events in their own communities...."

Urban says the trailer can handle many services with the exception of pre-enrollment testing.

He says the trailer will not go to the tourist-oriented events, but is targeted to events with local residents...

".....we're working on getting to football games this season just as a way to make our presence known..."

Nicolet purchased the trailer through the Federal Surplus Property system for around $3,000. Staff from the college’s Facilities and Information Technology departments then refurbished the trailer, turning the structure into a Welcome Center on wheels. Both departments used or refurbished items the college had in storage to complete their portion of the project.
