As the #NoDAPL Battle Marches on a Northwoods Tribe is on the Frontline

November is Native American Heritage Month, and is a time dedicated to acknowledging the contributions of the Native people while raising awareness to the issues and challenges their culture faces. Bad River tribal member Dona Gilane Yahola talked with WXPR’s Miranda Vander Leest about what the battle at the frontline of the Dakota Access Pipeline is like…

Yahola works as an outreach coordinator with the Lac du Flambeau Community College. She says eight community members from Lac du Flambeau are heading out to Standing Rock next week Wednesday.

In September, NPR reported the Obama Administration put a halt to the North Dakota Access Pipeline, and November 2nd, NPR reported on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers examining possible alternative routes for the Dakota Access Pipeline.
