Northwoods Dem Delegate Says Party Unity Will Arrive

en.wikipedia.org

The picture coming from TV screens Monday night looked like a raucous Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. But a Wisconsin delegate at the convention thinks the view from the TV didn't reflect what is going on.

Melissa Schroeder of Merrill is the 7th Congressional District chair and a full delegate to the convention. Protests outside and boos inside when Hilary Clinton's name was mentioned were highlighted in media reports. But Schroeder says the tone of the convention changed after keynote speakers Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren asked for unity...

"....but at the end of the day as Senator Sanders said this morning at our breakfast, we need to do whatever we can to elect Hilary Clinton as the next president as the alternative is just not acceptable...."

She says the delegates approved the Democratic platform Monday night and says the voices eventually will coalesce behind Clinton...

"....it is going to be a full-out, non-stop, convention with marching orders going into the fall and unity at the end of the day..."

Schroeder says the Democratic platform was approved Monday.
