Northwoods United Way Stuffs the Bus for Students in Need

northwoodsunitedway.org

As summer winds down parents are scrambling to find the best deals on school supplies, but some Northwoods families are struggling to afford even the most basic items.

The Northwoods United Way is sponsoring a Stuff the Bus event at the Rhinelander Walmart to help local families prepare for the upcoming school year. Director of the Northwoods United Way, Nancy Sattler hopes to get the community and local businesses involved.

“We have a bus from Bowen’s bus service that’s going to be in the Wal-Mart parking lot on August 30th from 2 to 6. We’re encouraging people to buy two and then give one to us on the bus on their way out. And we’re also hoping businesses will start their own school supply drives and then bring everything they collect to us at the bus on the 30th. “

Sattler says their goal is to put all students on equal footing for the school year, and to make sure they have the school supplies they need.
