November is National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Month. The Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing and Frederick Place, the homeless shelter in Rhinelander, are gearing up for campaigns to fulfill their mission of providing shelter for the homeless.

Frederick Place Executive Director Tammy Modic says the public can make a direct donation of a dollar at area businesses....

"....we have a program called "Everybody Deserves Shelter" that goes on for the whole month and that has at least 51 area businesses that have agreed to showcase NATH and Frederick Place with little cards that have our logo on it..."

The second event is the fifth annual "Soup For Shelter" November 15 at Nativity of Our Lord on East King Street. Local restaurants and organizations have donated specialty soups and breads for the event.

Modic says the shelter continues to be full and has been almost since they opened. The shelter serves Oneida, Vilas, Lincoln, Forest and Langlade counties.
