Olson Library Looking At New Architect For Project

en.wikipedia.org

The Walter E. Olson Memorial Library Foundation approved a number of motions last week including taking the lead for renovation and expansion of the library, accepting ownership of the property, contracting with OPN architects, and establishing a library foundation building committee.

According to foundation president Nancy Schaffer their actions will permit private construction of the library project using a design-build model. “We've accepted the recommendation of the library board of trustees to contract with OPN and will be reviewing their proposal,” Schaffer said. “The contract will be between OPN architects and the foundation. We also adopted a motion to accept transfer of the library property from the town of Lincoln to the foundation.”

Schaffer also indicated they will be forming a building committee with Jill Kunes of the board of trustees as chair along with a number of foundation and community members. “The foundation is most grateful to the community and the Tawani Foundation for their continuing support,” Schaffer said. “The foundation is planning a fall event to recognize library staff and volunteers.”
