One Dead, Several Injuries After Weekend Crashes

A number of crashes reported over the weekend in the Northwoods, with one person reported killed.

A three vehicle crash Friday night in northern Langlade county proved fatal for an Elcho man.

25 year old Joseph Ziemendorf was killed on Highway "K" near Pratt road when his vehicle collided with an SUV driven by a LaGrange, Illinois man. That collision pushed Ziemendorf's vehicle into the path of a vehicle driven by another LaGrange, Ilinois driver.

 Ziemendorf was pronounced dead at the scene. The other drivers and passengers were taken to a hospital in Antigo for non-life threatening injuries, according to the Langlade County Sheriff's Department.

Sunday afternoon a plane crashed at the Land O'Lakes airport. A home built craft  was attempting to land and flipped over. The pilot and a passenger from Wadena, Minnesota received minor scrapes and bruises according to Vilas County authorities.

A wakeboarder on Ike Walton Lake, Lac du Flambeau, was reported in serious condition after the board he was on hit a boat that was moored at a pier. Vilas county authorities say the 25 year old male from Park Falls had serious head injuries and was flown to a Wausau Hospital. The man's father was pulling him behind a boat.

Saturday morning, two vehicles collided head on about 5:45 a.m. north of Tomahawk in Oneida county. Sheriff's deputies say the collision happened on U.S. 51 near county "L" in the town of Nokomis. Three occupants were taken to area hospitals.
