The Oneida County Board has approved the official request to the state for the operation of the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Oneida County. The agencies provide a variety of services to older adults.
Since 2012, the Oneida County Department on Aging has been partnering with the ADRC of the Northwoods to provide services for older adults in this region. The state has moved to consolidate the county departments with the ADRC's to reduce duplication of effort.
Department on Aging Director Dianne Jacobson says after five years of operation, they feel fully prepared to take over operations.
Supervisor Bob Mott says says the integration of operations has been greatly detailed...
"....I like the detail and I commend the work that Dianne and Joel did in putting this together. I think it's very clear and I think it talks about how we can and will provide these services on the local level...."
Jacobson says more details will need to be worked out....
"....we fully anticipate the state will come back and say 'we need more info in this section', 'we need clarification'. We'll be working with the state over the next couple of months, if you approve this, to finalize...."
As part of the application, the county will seek to withdraw as a partner of the Long Term Care District and seek early release from contractual obligations of the regional partnership.
Vilas, Forest, and Taylor counties, the Forest County Potawatomi Community and Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa remain in the regional ADRC.
