Oneida County Non-Profits Can Get Free Help

The deadline is approaching for Oneida county non-profits to get some free volunteer help.

Each year Leadership Oneida County needs projects from non-profits. The effort is jointly sponsored by UW-Extension and Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce. This year 16 professionals are learning about the business, education, medical, media and other aspects of Oneida county life with an eye toward finding a new generation of leaders here.

Chamber Director Lara Reed says they need at least five more non-profits to submit entries to have enough for the prospects...

"something that doesn't quite make it up the priority list of things they need completed. It can be a brochure or marketing materials, perhaps publicizing an event..."

The candidates spend time with the non-profits providing the help. Reed says the only exception is they can't help with fundraising activities. She says the projects need to be completed by the candidates for May graduation......

"....it is absolutely volunteer help. There is no payment or anything out of pocket. What we do need is somebody from the organization to serve as a mentor to provide some guidance, answer questions if that is needed. It is absolutely free volunteer help from our group...."

Reed says any Oneida county non-profit can join in. Applications are on the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce website at explorerhinelander.com or you can stop by the offices on Kemp Street. Deadline to apply is November 22.
