Open House Tonight for Charter Schools for Students with Autism

An open house has been set for Wednesday, March 28th, from 4-6 p.m., to introduce students with autism spectrum disorders and their parents, and other caregivers, to the new Lakeland Star School/Academy (LSSA) charter schools in Minocqua.

The open house will be at the Nicolet College satellite building on the Lakeland Union High School campus, 9792 State Highway 70 (a block west of U.S. Highway 51). The Nicolet building will be used for the charter schools set to open this fall.

Visitors can tour the new location and learn about the renovations planned to accommodate the students. The charters’ lead teacher and director, Eric Mikoleit, will talk about the LSSA’s mission and curriculum. Members of the public school system and the governance board of LSSA will be on hand to answer questions.

The Lakeland Star School will be for students in seventh and eighth grades, while the Lakeland Star Academy is for students in 9th-12th grades. Enrollment is limited.

Open enrollment for the two charters ends Friday, April 6th. Applications can be filled out during the open house. Child-care will be available during the open house.

For more information, and to RSVP, contact Jim Ellis at jellis@mhlt.org, Jim Bouche at bouche@lakelandunion.org or or Eric Mikoleit at mikoleit@lakelandunion.org.
