Graduation parties can turn into a major problem as adults are caught serving alcohol to minors, says a Northwoods health official.
Vilas County Health Department's Tammi Boers says the thing to remember is no one can serve alcohol to anyone under 21 except within one's family...
"....parents who supply alcohol can face a maximum sentence of up to six months in jail or up to a $500 dollar fine depending on law enforcement. Others can sue you if you give alcohol to their child and they get hurt or hurt somebody else or if they damage someone else's property...."

"...host safe, alcohol free events for their children. Don't supply alcohol or allow children to bring in alcohol in their home or at their properties. Make sure you're home and walk around and make sure the kids aren't drinking and talk to other parents about hosting alcohol free parties, things like that....."
Parents Who Host Lose The Most is a campaign developed by the Drug-Free Action Alliance. Boers says the goal is to alert adults and young people that underage alcohol consumption carries risk.
