A Vilas county school district is one of 14 schools to get a public safety grant from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
The Phelps School district received $23,000. Combined, the 14 schools and school districts will receive $1.7 million which will be spent on building safety improvements, as well as training for faculty and staff. More grants are expected soon.
735 schools and school districts applied for the state grants.
