Plea Bargain Reached For Former FC Jailer

Forest County Sheriff's Dept.

A former Forest county correction officer and her husband have avoided significant jail time after a plea bargain arrangement reached late last week in Forest county court.

60 year old Jeanie Pitts of Crandon was arrested in October, 2014 along with her husband Richard, and former Corrections Officer Melvin Donek. The arrests followed an investigation by local and state law enforcement.

The arrests led to multiple charges against each person. Jeannie Pitts had been charged with seven felonies, including misconduct in public office and misdemeanors. Electronic court records indicate last week Jeanie Pitts  agreed to a plea bargain where the felony charges were dropped in exchange for no contest pleas to two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct. She was fined, including court costs, totaling $1,810 dollars.

Richard Pitts also entered into a plea bargain. Richard Pitts had been charged with three felonies, including party to the crime receiving stolen property. He was given a similar fine as Jeanie Pitts for pleas of no contest to misdemeanors and a fine and court costs totaling $1,810 dollars.
