Polar Sentenced For Man's Death

A 47 year old Crandon man has been sentenced to prison for the New Years Day 2012 death of a pedestrian in Forest county.

Norbert Polar was sentenced Friday by Judge Leon Stenz to seven years in prison and eight additional years of extended supervision for homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

41 year old Klynt Decorah was walking on Highway 55 near Mole Lake when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. Polar's car was later found in a ditch. Polar was found guilty of five of six counts during a jury trial May 10.

In addition to the prison. Polar can't drink during the extended supervision time, must do 500 hours of community service, and other conditions.
