RAFP Celebrates 10 Years Of Service

WXPR

It was ten years ago today the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry opened its doors.

The pantry will be noting the anniversary with an open house Saturday afternoon at it's new location.

Executive Director Guy Hansen says they started out with a few shelves in what is now the Knights of Columbus building on Brown Street and last fall they moved into a new facility off Coon Street. They started serving 45 families but that number has grown...

?

"....we typically serve between 400 and 450 households per month at our present facility. Any of those households can come twice per month, that's closer to 600 household visits each month...."

?

Last year more than a half-million pounds of food was distributed during 7,87 visits.

The Rhinelander Area Food Pantry will celebrate 10 years with an open house Saturday, April 11 from 2-4 p.m. The pantry is at 627 Coon Street in the former Golden Harvest building
