Rep. Swearingen Announces Reelection Bid

Wisconsin.gov

Incumbent 34th Assembly District Republican Rob Swearingen of Rhinelander has announced he will seek a third, two-year term.

Swearingen was first elected in 2012. He says supporters encouraged him to run again....

".....I've had a lot of encouragement from family, friends, people across the Northwoods that want me to run again. I think we've done some good work in the last 4 years. I'm looking forward to continue the path we've started down..."

.While he cites more private sector jobs and a lower unemployment rate, he says two issues are at the top of his priorities...

".....we are really concentrated on broadband expansion in the Northwoods and FAB LAB expansion in the Northwoods, with Rhinelander getting a grant making three in my Assembly district alone. It puts Wisconsin number one(in K-12 schools) in the country..."

Swearingen chaired the Speakers Task Force On Rural Schools. He also is a member of the state Building Commission, chairing the Assembly State Affairs and Government Operations Committee and is a member of six additional legislative committees. Two Democrats have announced they are running. Matthew Michaelsen of Lake Tomahawk and Lawrence Dale of Eagle River have announced their intentions for the 34th Assembly seat, which covers portions of Oneida, Vilas, Forest and Florence counties.
