Rhinelander District Library Forms Friends Group

Natalie Jablonski

The Rhinelander District Library has formed a group hoping to get more integrated into the community.

Library Director Virginia Roberts says they've formed the Friends of the Library group.

Roberts says it was first proposed to Leadership Oneida County and some leadership candidates took the idea on. She says the Friends group is designed to help with day-to-day things...

".....we would like more of a grassroots(effort). We have a Foundation. They are very good at raising money and we really appreciate it. What we would like is more involvement in the library. Folks to run the book sale, folks to help with programming, folks who might sponsor landscaping or other projects that the library can be involved in, things like that...."

The library is hosting a kickoff meeting on Monday, May 16 at 5 p.m. for anyone who is interested in helping out. Roberts says they will also provide an update on projects at the library, including the effort to raise the money toward an addition to the facility.

Nancy Sattler is Friends of the Library Coordinator and can be reached at 715-202-3344 for more information.
