Rhinelander High School to Host Mass Flu Vaccination Clinic

en.wikipedia.org

Thursday is the first of two mass flu vaccination clinics being held at Rhinelander high school.

School District Nurse Kerri Schmidt says the flu vaccine is free for children 18 and under. A parent or guardian must be with the child at the time of the vaccination. The clinic is being offered by the Oneida County Health Department through the school district.

Schmidt says adults can get immunized too...

"....there is vaccine available for adults for adults, but they do have to pay for that. The Oneida County Health Department accepts cash, medicaid, Badgercare, Medicare and Medicare Replacement...."

The injectable version of the vaccine protects against four viruses. There is also a nasal spray equivalent that also protects against the same four strains of the flu, but isn't recommended for people with certain health conditions.

The vaccine is recommended for all people over the age of six months.

The clinic this week will be held at the Rhinelander High School cafeteria from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m.. A second mass flu clinic will be offered November 19. Contact the Oneida County Health Department if you have questions.
