Rhinelander Lions Again Host "Christmas Not Alone"

HURLBURT FIELD

If you don't have a place to go Christmas day to be with others for a meal, here's an option:

"...this is the Rhinelander Lions free community Christmas meal that we've been doing for the last 30 years. It is an opportunity for anybody that is home alone or if they just don't want to cook for the day, or they want to be with others, to come to Nativity of our Lord, North Stevens St. for this year's dinner..."

That's Mike Romportl of Rhinelander Lions. Volunteers prepare a meal to share with others.

Romportl says attendance has been around 300 in past years and is open to anyone. Volunteers are always needed...

"....putting on a Christmas dinner would not be possible without the volunteers...you can help with the setup which is on December 24 from nine to noon, The meal preparation is on Monday, December 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.. Serving starts at 11 o'clock until about 1:30 p.m. Then from 1:30 until 3:30 is clean up. Just come for an hour, come for two hours if you care to help...."

Mike Romportl says Rapid Cab Company is providing free rides and free delivery is available to shut-ins, thanks to volunteer drivers. He says the meal is open to all...

"....whatever the reason, they can come out and share a free meal which makes this very heartwarming for the Rhinelander Lions to be able to put this on for whatever their needs may be...."

Romportl says Nativity of Our Lord will be holding Christmas services around the time of the setup and meal, so parking at the St. Joe's site on North Stevens Street might be tight during Mass times. More information is available at 715-362-6534 or 715-282-5904 if you want a meal delivered.
