Rhinelander Man Dies In Sunday Boating Mishap

A Rhinelander man died early Sunday after a boating mishap in the town of Pine Lake.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Department reports two men were kayaking near 3907 Trails End Loop. The call for assistance came in about 3:00 a.m. Sunday. One of the kayakers, 23 year old Andrew J. Berrell of Rhinelander was able to get out of the water and was taken to Ministry-St. Mary's Hospital. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Newbold, Pine Lake Fire department, LIttle Rice, Rhinelander Rescue and Oneida County EMS in searching for the second kayaker.

About 11:30 Sunday morning the body of 25 year old Kyle J. Holquist of Rhinelander was found in the backwaters of Boom Bay north of Rhinelander on the Wisconsin River.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office and county Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation into the incident.
