Rhinelander Sets Bow Hunt Days And Rules

The deadline is in about two weeks if you want to participate in Rhinelander's bow hunt for antlerless deer.

The city has had deer hunts on and off over the years as the city's deer population fluctuates. The deadline for applications is set for September 15.

The bow season will begin the next day and run through November 17. The hunt will be closed during the gun and muzzleloader deer hunts, then reopen on December 7 and end on January 7, 2018. The hunt will also be suspended on Halloween.

The mayor and police chief can suspend the hunt in emergency situations. Hunters must register at Rhinelander city hall during regular business hours. Landowners who wish to have their property hunted can also can apply. Hunters from use an elevated tree stand at least 6 feet off the ground, have a valid state bow license and must bring a carcass tag when applying.

City Police will also run a background check.
