Ride With Leine Set For Saturday In Land O' Lakes

en.wikipedia.org

Bicycle enthusiasts will have a chance to traverse portions of two states as part of the "Ride With Leinie" fundraiser coming up this Saturday.

Mark Gostisha owns the Forest Lake Country Store on county Highway "B"  and coordinates the event for the Wilderness Lake Trails in the Land O' Lakes area. He says the event began to help expand bicycle trails...

"....the "Ride With Leine" started out as a fundraiser, a brainchild when the bicycle trail was expanding from seven miles to a 38 mile loop around the Sylvania Wilderness Area..."

Gostisha says Dick Leinenkugel, from the famous beer family, agreed to host the day as an effort to draw attention to the bicycle trails in the north.  Gostisha says there are 8.5 or a 38 mile course, depending on your fitness. Leinenkugel will lead the shorter ride.

Gostisha says after all the riders are back about noon there will be a brat feed along with beverages. He says the money raised will benefit the Wilderness Lakes Trails. A portion of the trail is in the U.P.

Businesses, including Mel's Trading Post in Rhinelander, are also involved. Mel's will be giving a paddleboard demonstration.

The rides are  Saturday morning. For more information go to the website wildlakes.org
