Roots Celebration At Rhinelander City Hall

WXPR

Rows of Rhinelander's past filled the upstairs at Rhinelander City Hall Thursday, as the city Historical Commission held a Rhinelander Roots Celebration.

The council chambers have been adorned with pictures from Rhinelander's past for years, and the displays brought out other history of local businesses and organizations as well.

One of the business people on hand was Phil Frasier from Frasier's Plumbing and Heating. Next to a huge and heavy heat radiator in the council chambers was a hand-held tool that Frasier explained...

".....right here we have a dolly for moving old cast-iron radiators which are really heavy. The forgery date(on the dolly) was February 12, 1907. About eight years ago was the last time we used it...."

Frasier says he's fourth generation in the business. Other displays showed the transformation of the West Side school to a housing facility today. Few people remember in 1935, Packer founder and coach Curly Lambeau and the team practiced at Sarocka Park for a week, staying at the Pinewood Lodge on Lake Thompson east of Rhinelander.

Kathy Cutforth from the Historic Preservation Commission says city hall's picture displays are open to the public each day. during regular business hours
