Schlitt To Leave YMCA of the Northwoods

YMCA of the Northwoods

The YMCA of the Northwoods is looking for a new leader.

CEO Laurie Schlitt will leave April 30 to take a similar job with the Mukwonago YMCA.

Schlitt served as interim CEO twice since 2011 before being named full-time CEO in March 2015.

YMCA of the Northwoods officials say Schlitt increased membership 14 percent her first year, and grew their annual campaign events 25 percent as Associate Executive Director. She is also credited with increasing board participation, restructuring group fitness classes, increasing membership and opening a gymnastics studio. She also oversaw a successful new branding transition and strong collaborations with area organizations and corporations.

She says she thinks she made a difference during her time as CEO...

"...I'm proud to say I feel we can definitely state that. We're in a better financial situation, we're in a better position for community service, we have an amazing team with staff and volunteers, we have a strategic plan in place for future growth and development. I have never felt more comfortable about the stability of this YMCA than I do today...."

Since joining the Northwoods community her involvement has included Kiwanis, Women’s Club, MOCK, Partners In Education, Leadership Oneida County, and various volunteer projects.

The YMCA of the Northwoods is beginning the process of hiring a new CEO. Toni Jaskowiak will serve as Interim CEO during this process.
