SeniorCare Renewed Through 2018

The recent federal approval of a waiver to continue Wisconsin's SeniorCare drug prescription program gives the program life through 2018.

SeniorCare is Wisconsin's Prescription Drug Assistance Program for Wisconsin residents who are 65 years of age or older and who meet enrollment rules. It is unique in the nation. Oneida County Department on Aging Director Dianne Jacobson says the program has been popular with seniors...

"....it's actually quite a national model. Wisconsin developed Seniorcare even before the federal government developed their "Part D" of Medicare. Wisconsin was forward thinking enough to develop this. Folks worried, rightfully so, that they're going to lose their coverage and SeniorCare has just been so amazingly popular and really does serve a lot of people. We are thrilled that it was renewed...."

Current SeniorCare members will continue to be enrolled in the program as long as they reapply each year, meet the eligibility requirements, and pay the $30 annual fee. All seniors will be subject to certain out-of-pocket expense rules depending on their annual income. There are different expense rules and benefits based on your income and your spouse's income, if your spouse lives with you. Contact your local Department on Aging for more information.
