Shidell Stumped State Hard To Win Treasurer's Post

Rhinelander resident Jerry Shidell worked hard to take his message "hire me, then fire me" across Wisconsin to become the next state Treasurer.  While he didn't win the election, Shidell says he got his message out.

Shidell garnered about 2 percent of the vote as a Libertarian candidate.  In an earlier interview, Shidell said  he would work to get the Treasurer's job eliminated. He says the job duties have almost entirely been stripped away.

Tuesday, Shidell said he thought his campaign made an impact...

"....I literally went from east, to south, to north to west and everything in-between. I stopped at newspapers all over Wisconsin. I went to forums, I met lots and lots of people. I guess the campaign theme of 'hire me then fire me' was unique enough because I literally say to me when I introduced my theme say, 'I've heard that before'..."

Republican Matt Adamczyk won the seat.  Shidell is a former Rhinelander mayor, long time business owner, past member of the county board and has done some professional acting.
