Six Sites Under Consideration For Eagle River Dog Park

en.wikipedia.org

At the first meeting in Eagle River of a group of dog owners looking to find a location for a dog park, six potential locations were identified for further study.

Ron Kressin, a member of the city council and county board, volunteered to chair the group and said he “was glad to see a number of dog owners ready to do some work” and was especially thankful many had visited dog parks in other communities.

Two subjects, size and location, were addressed by the group with most favoring a site with five or more acres and maybe more than one site for smaller dogs. They agreed a larger site was needed for large breeds that need to run off leash and exercise more.

Two issues they felt had to be overcome were fencing and winter use. They initially picked six areas in and around Eagle River for further study. These are -behind city hall -airport west of Bolte Road -managed forest land along Illinois Street -Riverside Park on north side of Fairgrounds -county forest land off Adams Road north of Highway G -Town of Lincoln dump site north of filled area.

They are also interested if any private property owners might be willing to donate acerage. They can contact city clerk Debbra Brown at 715-479-8682.
