Some Northwood Counties Rank Low in Population Health

UW Population Health Institute

Rural areas continue to lag behind other Wisconsin counties in overall wellness. That is one aspect of a  2014 County Health Rankings report from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

Researcher Kate Konkle says this is the fifth year the report has been released. Konkle talked with Ken Krall about some of the findings. She says a variety of things lead to a healthy population including education, community safety, smoking, housing, diet and exercise.

Forest county had the fifth-worst overall ranking of health factors.. Langlade was 60th out of 72. Vilas was 45th of 72, and Oneida was 21st. The report is on the UW Population Health Institute.
