State Marketing Money Given To Eagle River Chamber For Ride

Another Northwoods community has picked up state marketing dollars to promote an event.

This week the Department of Tourism awarded the Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce a $5,000 Joint Effort Marketing grant to promote it's SepTimber Ride. Taking place Sept. 8, the event features two bike rides, a 28-mile tour along the Three Eagle Trail and the 50K Northwoods Road Ride showcasing the area’s scenic country roads. Along the way, bikers can stop at Three Lakes Winery for local wine samples, and all riders will end their trek with a picnic at Tribute Brewing Company.

Grant funds will go towards direct mail, online, print and broadcast advertising in southern Wisconsin and Illinois. Visitors generated $1.5 billion in state and local sales tax revenue.

In 2017,visitor  business sales in Vilas County have reached $282 million, supporting 1,961 jobs and more than $22.3 million in state and local taxes.

The Department of Tourism also awarded marketing grants this week to Wisconsin Counties and also to the Forest County Economic Development Partnership.
