Students Asked To Submit Trout-Salmon Stamp Pictures

https://www.goodfreephotos.com

High school students are encouraged to check out the DNR's inland trout stamp and Great Lakes salmon and trout stamp design contests for next year.

DNR trout coordinator Joanna Griffin says this is the second year where high school students were asked to submit artwork to be considered for the stamp.

Artwork for the contest must be received or postmarked by July 3. . Students enrolled in grades 9 through 12 or the equivalent, attending public, homeschool, private or parochial schools in Wisconsin during this year are eligible.

Griffin says the two popular game fish need to be featured....

"....they can work with their schools, create something in their art class or individually. For the inland trout stamp contest, it should be either a brook, a brown or rainbow trout, and for the Great Lakes salmon and trout stamp it should be salmon or trout found in the Great Lakes here in Wisconsin...."

Artists are not limited in their choice of colors or medium, but the medium selected must be of permanent quality such as pen and ink, oil, watercolor etching or pencil. The DNR's fisheries program first conducted the inland trout stamp contest in 1978 and the Great Lakes trout and salmon stamp contest in 1982. More than 70 artists participated in the early years of the contests.
