The 7th annual Sustainability Fair is being held on Earth Day, this Saturday , at Nicolet College Lakeside Center in Rhinelander. The Fair is from noon to 7:30 p.m.
Sustainability Northwoods has hosted the Earth Day Sustainability Fair at various locations in the Rhinelander area. The event consists of informational booths, speakers, student experiments/research, foods from various organic farms, etc. Many businesses and organizations with a focus on sustainability will be there, including local organizations and local farmers, to share their visions and sustainability initiative.... as organizer Ann Eshelman says..
. "....the whole idea is to get together the people in this community who are struggling to provide products and services that deal with sustainability issues together with potential consumers. A lot of these people are little mom and pop enterprises back in the wood someplace who don't have an advertising budget, who don't have a lot of promotional abilities, so we like to get them together in the same place...."
Workshops will be featured, included sessions on solar power, passive homes, making home products, and a session with WXPR's own Masked Biologist among others.
A music group known as the Earth Day Band will perform at 4:00 p.m. Food and refreshments are available all day.
From 6:00-7:00 p.m. is an evening roundtable on sustainable building techniques. The theme of the 2017 Fair is, "If you build it..." and will focus on sustainable building from homes to compost piles.
